With the full moon last night, the tides go higher and lower than normal. For those travelling with a deep keel, they particularly have to pay attention to it.
8:00 am- What do I hear? Nothing. The wind has died down to 15 which feels normal. You can see movement in the harbour once again.
All sorts of activities on George Town are scheduled. You can do as much or as little as you wish. This morning is Bocce ball tournament already started at 9:30am.
For breakfast, we had eggs and my homemade bread toasted with my sister’s honey this morning. Great way to start the day.
We did a few small fixer upper things around the boat. After lunch, we explored another beach. We took our dinghy at the entrance of the Turtle pond and went ashore. We always see dinghies in that area and figured it was time to explore it.
We discovered another gorgeous beach.
The waves were obviously high.
We walked a couple of miles and noticed a swing hanging from a tree. Of course I had to try it out.
We had a beer at their outside bar and was entertained by watching others.
We continued our journey and realized we had to cross the bay channel into Turtle bay lagoon in order to get back to our dinghy.
Good thing it was low tides otherwise Steve would have had to swim across. He was nice enough to pick me up so that I don’t get wet.
3:00 pm- Back at the boat, we relaxed after the long walk.
5:30pm- Had leftovers for dinner. It was a nice sunset.
March 11, 2020
8:00 am- Had our coffee and breakfast while listening to the cruiser’s net. The wind is finally really dropping.
The freighters won’t hesitate to come close since they are in the right of way.
The freighter sounded the horn for the boater to move however no one was on the boat.
11:00- After the race we took the dinghy to town and did a few groceries. Steve has a craving for fried chicken and was planning on having lunch at PFC in town however they were closed. That is one thing you have to get used to in the Bahamas, stores or restaurants seem to choose when to open and close and they don’t post anything.
We walked to the shipping yard to see them unload. It is very busy.
We didn’t get too wet coming back to the boat.
3:00 pm- While Steve was reading and I was painting, 2 government choppers went above us.
4:00pm - After a brief rain, I noticed a kite boarder
between the boat. He had a hard time getting up. I thought how brave he was to go between boat especially with high mast. I was envisioning his kite getting tangled in someone mast.
5:30 pm- Hamburger and bean salad for dinner tonight. It rained for a brief period again.
There was a dark cloud in the distance
Beautiful moon shining on our boat.
Watched TV before going to bed. Listening to President Trump address the Coronavirus pandemic.
