March 1 - 3, 2020 - Chilling in Long Island

March 1- It was only 68 degrees F this morning when we were having our coffee. They announced on the cruiser’s net that the high will only be 70 degrees and to bundle up.
Nassau Grouper season is open as of today so we are hoping to catch grouper during our travels.

It warmed up as the day progressed and I did my routine stretching while Steve read.
1:00- Met Karen and Robert at the dinghy dock and went for a walk at another beach which Karen discovered yesterday. Bonus because she gave me a buoy (which I love to collect) yesterday and today we found 2 more. I was a happy sailor.

We got our exercise walking on this long beach
Always enjoy resting after a long walk

It was nice to just sit there and watch the ocean.
3:30 pm- We were back at the boat and the sun was hot.

They announced on the cruiser’s net this morning that there would be live music at Tiny’s restaurants for 4:30 pm. So we dinghy across. There wasn’t any music while we were there but the margaritas were almost as good as Steve’s. We talked to a couple who was vacationing on the island from Pittsburgh.
There were a lot of people there.

View looking from the bar looking at dinghy dock
There was free WiFi at Tiny’s so we were able to Face Time one of my daughters.
Came back to the boat around 6:30 pm and Steve barbecued hamburgers. Watched a movie before bedtime.
Great day
March 2, 2020
Last night I realized I had good wifi in the boat. When we went to the restaurant earlier we got the password and since our Badboy tower is close enough to pick up the signal, I was able to watch Netflix series called “Black Sails”. Steve already saw the series therefore I was up until 1:00am.
This morning the wifi is really slow. Hopefully it picks up speed tonight because there are 4 seasons which I want to catch up on.
We haven’t done much this morning due to high winds and waves. You just know that if you go out on the dinghy, you will get wet.
12:00pm-  I started making a Shepard’s pie for dinner tonight since Karen and Robert will be joining us while Steve read. We didn’t get off the boat at all today.
4:30pm-  Karen and Robert came to the boat. The shepherd’s pie turned out good. They might be leaving on Wednesday so it may be the last meal we have together. They need to start heading back to meet their family at Juno’s Beach. They don’t want to leave it until the last minute since the weather is to unpredictable. We went to stay for the Mutton festival this weekend before heading back to Georgetown next week.

We played euchre until past 8pm. The wind is still howling.
Steve a I watched a movie together and then I watched one of  Black Sail episode before going to bed.
The moon is really bright and shining on the water tonight.

7:00 am-  Had coffee and breakfast before I hopped in the dinghy and picked up Karen to go to a Yin Yoga session on the island for 9:00am. Today they worked our hips. Hopefully we will be able to walk in the morning.

By the time I got back, Steve already heated the water and was making water. We both took a nice HOT shower.
I prepared a salmon appetizer for later since there is a cruiser’s get together on the beach along with a fire and live music at 4:00pm. I made a unique presentation.

I made us tuna sandwiches and ended up having a nap afterwards which I usually never do. I stay up late watching Netflix series since the wifi works faster when everyone is sleeping.  I never do that at home.

4:00pm-  Went to the cruiser’s beach and met many interesting people. I was surprise to see how many boaters came.
The musicians were really good and we had a great fire going.

We had a good laugh because someone put a toilet
seat on top of a crate hidden in the back of the beach for women to use. I just had to take a photo.

We were back at the boat by 7:00pm and hugged and said goodbye to Karen and Robert. Sadly, they are leaving in the morning to head back slowly  to Juno, Florida to meet up with their family. We have been travelling close to 2 months together. Guess we will either have to make a trip to Nova Scotia or they will have to come to Canada. It was really nice travelling with them.

Steve and I watched Netflix before going to bed. The half moon was really bright once again and lit up the water.
