March 13-15, 2020 - George Town is emptying

7:00 am- We could hear a lot of commotion and looks out to find at least 2 dozen anchors were being raised and boaters were leaving the harbour. Some of these boaters have been here until December and leave after the last sailing regatta.
What a gorgeous calm morning. As they were leaving, I noticed a partial rainbow.

9:00 pm- Steve went across the channel to fill up 2 containers of diesel and one of gasoline. He then picked me up to go do a few groceries. We went a little too early since there wasn’t produce yet on the shelves.
We walked around to kill some time so I got a good cappuccino in town and Steve treated himself to coffee and a homemade cookie.
It was very unique setting. The whole wall in the cafe was chalk board and people can write whatever they want.

We then walked around the grounds were they will be having the music festival this weekend.

We went back to the grocery store and things were still not on the shelf so we came back to the boat since it wasn’t urgent for us.

3:00 pm- We went snorkelling at Sand Dollar beach.  We then went for a nice long beach walk.

We noticed a place on the beach which had a fire pit along with tables.  When we got back to the boat, we took a shower.

6:00 pm- Dinner tonight is meatloaf and salad
Watched TV before going to bed.

7:30 am- Prepping to make a loaf of sour dough bread.
8:00 am- Listened to the cruiser’s net while having our breakfast and coffee. We decided to go do a few groceries around 10am. We noticed that the employees were wearing surgical gloves today due to the virus pandemic. We can all just hope for the best.

In town, we sat on the bench to watch young kids racing their boat.

After watching for about an hour, we decided to go back to the boat since we had our back packs full of groceries.  We could hear music playing throughout the town for their music festival. The big band come at 10pm and we know we will not be going. First it is too rough to cross at night and we don’t feel like getting wet late at night.
Before we left, one of the boaters showed us the boat which hit and killed the guy on his dinghy a couple of nights ago. He said there was a nick in the front where it hit the dinghy. I still can’t believe it

Steve made me a great sandwich for lunch when we got back.

2:30 pm-  Bread has risen and now in the oven. Of course we had to sample it.  Once we ate a couple of slices, we needed to go for a beach walk.

We went for a nice long walk

We found out this beach was call Flip Flop beach. They have a fire pit and  place to sit down

We then went to say goodbye to Brenda and James on Freeplay boat. They will be going back home to NC due to the Coronavirus. James’ dad is 97 years old living on his own and they want to make sure he is fine since elderly are more susceptible to the disease. I couldn’t believe it when James said his dad goes swimming to the Y everyday.
4:30 pm-  Came back to the boat and relax with a glass of wine.
6:00 pm- Pork chops and salad tonight for dinner.
Watched TV before going to bed.

8:00 am-  While listening to the cruiser’s net this morning, we saw Freeplay leaving the port and Brenda waving goodbye.

The net announced that there was another dinghy accident last night. Alcohol was involved and a dinghy ran into an anchored boat. There was injuries which happened but no one got killed.

1:00 pm-  We listened to the Bahamian Health department on TV and found out Bahamas has their first case of Novic-19 virus in Nassau. Unfortunately, we have to stay tune to see if anything will change.
My daughter and her family have flight for Friday and now will need to make the decision as to whether to come see us.
1:30 pm- While Steve made water, I went for a quick kayak ride. Once I returned, I cut his hair.
For dinner tonight is turkey tacos.
6:15 pm-  Went for a brief dinghy ride and watched the sunset. It was gorgeous. Here is a photo with GaYa as it was setting.

Watched TV before going to bed.
