March 12, 2020 - Tragedy on the water

March 12, 2020
8:00am. - While listening to Cruiser’s net this morning we learned that there was a tragedy on the water last night around 9:00 pm last night. A male was driving a motor boat near Stocking Island (where we are anchored)  when he collided with a dinghy resulting in a male (Wally Wilkerson) thrown into the water and died. We could hear boaters talking on the VHF and how his wife, Debra, was making calls and  make arrangements on what to do with the boat and make arrangements to get her husband home.
We didn’t realize that their boat ‘Salinity’ was anchored right beside us. So sad. I can’t imagine what she is going through.
Again it opens your eyes to not only how careful you have to be on the water but also how quickly life can turn.

10:00am- Steve went to get his propane tank filled across the channel while I took a hot shower since we heated the water earlier. He then took a shower when he returned and then made water
I did some painting while he read.

2:30 pm-  Went to Sand Dollar beach which is about 2km away from were we are anchored. Guess what I found. 2 Sand dollars. Unfortunately, by the time I brought them back, one was broken.

We saw a star fish washed up to shore so Steve put it back in the water. He was very prickly.

Interesting how the water creates beauty with the sand.

5:30pm-  Spaghetti and sausage for dinner tonight.
Watched TV before going to bed.
