February 8 - 11, 2020- Georgetown

February 8, 2020
Anchors are up at 7:30am as we leave Little Farmers. We decided to leave since the weather is suppose to change.
Provision boats are always coming and going

When going thru the cuts, there is always a lot of current and it  can get rough however once we went thru it was calm. Definitely not a sailing day but Steve didn’t waste time putting out 2 fishing rods. Robert said he put out one. Hopefully, one of us will catch dinner.

8:15am- We are just going by a private island owned by David Cooperfield’s  on Musha Cay. It is available for rent for 39k per day with a 4 night minimum.  We won’t be stopping by this year to view the mermaid and piano statue under the shallow waters which was commissioned by David. C.  To see it first placed under the sea,  go to underwatersculpture.com//projects/copperfield.

9:30am— We could hear boaters on the radio all excited about catching fish. Steve is changing his lure hoping for a catch. I am laughing as he is doing his fish dance to attract them. 😆
10:15am-  We can see at least 7 boats ahead of us and 5 boats behind us all going to Georgetown.
11:15am- Steve caught a Barracuda. It is not a keeper but it was fun reeling it in.

2:45pm-  We arrived in Georgetown. SO MANY BOATS here already. At least we got a good place to anchor.
The sun is so hot but I am not complaining especially when I hear it is winter wonderland at home.
We like anchoring at the monument since we are more protected from the wind. We covered 42 kn miles.

Just drank my last Shock Top. I enjoyed every sip. Good thing I also brought Blue Moon.

We brought Karen and Robert for a little tour to Chat and Chill beach where they got to touch stingrays.

We then went across to show them the grocery store in town and bought a few provision.
Back to the boat for dinner.
7:00pm-  Robert and Karen came to the boat and showed us a new card game.
9:30pm-  Steve sat in the bow of the boat and enjoyed the full moon gazing down at him.

Steve realized that there is television reception here. 6 channels. Saves us from downloading Netflix.
Watch TV until bedtime
Looking up the mast during a full moon. Photos do not justify the mystic beauty.

7:30am-  As Steve and I were having our coffee, I noticed a loose dinghy floating around in the bay. Steve went to rescue it. How ironic though. Yesterday, the woman from that particular boat was confrontational since she thought Robert anchored too close to her. Steve told her he was fine. Bottom line, there was plenty of space but the woman just wanted the whole anchorage to herself.

While Steve was rescuing the dinghy, I noticed dolphins swimming towards our boat. Always exciting.
8:00am- We listened to cruisers net on channel 72 and listened to all activities happening in Georgetown.
Steve read while I did some painting all morning and then ar 1:00pm we picked up Karen and went to a lecture about Bahamian herbs and how the are used for medicinal purpose.  It was very interesting. After the 1.5 hr session, we bought conch salad and had it for lunch.

The educated farmer showed us a book with all the herbs.

It is really fun to watch the guy cut up the onions, peppers, tomatoes and conch for the delicious salad.

Yummy conch salad

While Steve had a fiesta snore, I painted  all afternoon.
5:30pm- Storm is coming. Clouds are rolling in. Winds are changing.

It didn’t rain too much. We put our salty clothes out to get washed by rain water.
6:35om-  Had a great steak dinner.while watching the moon rise.

Pictures don’t justify  the beauty.

February 10, 2020
Windy night but not rocky. Listened to the cruisers net at 8:00am while having our coffee and breakfast. Afterwards, I decided to start the process of making bread in order to have some for dinner. I decided to invite Karen and Robert to try out my Buffalo Chicken casserole.
10:00am-  We picked up Karen to go hiking while Robert stayed on his boat to sand and oil his trim.

Steve is always exploring things.

We walked up to the monument

What a gorgeous view.

We were back in time to knead my dough and let it rise another 3 hours. Love that sour dough bread.
I finished a painting while Steve read and did a few chores around the boat.
I started preparing tonight’s meal while the bread was baking. It smelled so good. Another successful loaf.

5:30pm-Karen and Robert came over for dinner. It was Avery nice evening.
8:30pm- Steve and watched TV before going to bed.

8:00am - After our morning coffee, and while I listened to the cruiser’s net, Steve went across the channel on the dinghy to get fuel. It is a good time to go since it is not busy during that time. He came back soak and wet since it is a little bumpy but at least he wore his bathing suit.
I had yogurt , fruit and granola waiting for him since we did not have breakfast yet.
10:30am-  We went across the bay and met Karen and
Robert. We wanted to find out where to rent a car tomorrow. We ended up walking 3 miles to Thompson Car Rental.  It was hot. After we made reservations, we stopped in at Splash Bar and Grill to get hydrated and have a wonderful lunch. We didn’t realize how hungry we were.

We stopped a few places along the water before returning back to the boat. I thought I was all prepared not to get wet since I had my raincoat, but by the time we got back, we were soaked.

My glasses were so salty I couldn’t see anything.
After we dried up, I practiced my guitar while Steve read.
6:00pm- we weren’t that hungry since we had a big lunch so we decided to have soup.
Watched TV the remainder of the evening before going to bed.
