January 13 & 14, 2020 - The adventure begins

January 13, 2020
We left our hotel after breakfast and went to the marina to find out when they were going to put our boat in the water.  Seeing that our boat was not going in until late afternoon, we went to do groceries.
We covered our truck for storage and gave the keys to Sally, the marina owner.
Truck all covered for storage

It was a long day just waiting especially when GaYa didn’t go in the water until 4:30 pm at low tide.  In putting in our boat, we knew we would hit bottom however they told us we would be fine.
Putting GaYa in the water for the first time

Of course we ran aground as we were leaving and had to wait until 6:30pm before we were free.  A motor boat tried to help us but gave up when GaYa didn’t want to budge.
It was pitch dark when we arrived at Ft Pierce City Marina.
Ran aground going out the channel and had to wait for rising tides

Debra, a friend of ours, and her dog Willow dropped over for a quick visit before we went to eat at the restaurant.  She was kind enough to leave us a care package.
We were so tired and it was nice to relax on the boat. As I looked out of the boat, I saw a bright moon shining down the water.  The adventure begins.
What a view just before going to bed.

January 14, 2020- A day to fix things
It was a very productive day. Steve had to fix hid head (toilet) since it wasn’t drawing water. He had to take it apart but managed to fix it. He also inspected my head to insure it was working fine.  Seeing that we decided to stay another day, we went for a walk. Steve bought himself an ice cream and I a cappuccino. We came back to the boat to a late breakfast, Steve washed and waxed the top of the boat while I cleaned inside.  In wanting to fill the water tanks, Steve realized the water caps were seized. He managed to remove one of them but the back one was so seized that he had to drill it out. It took some doing but he was successful. One of the boaters was kind enough to drive Steve to the  marine supply store to get new caps.

After a hard day of working on the boat, we enjoyed cocktail hour.

The rising moon was spectacular
